There’s been a least one Blue Jay flying around our neighborhood last several days. Identified him by his call & today was seen flying by neighbor Roger P. & his wife at their feeder.

That is correct, we can still send email to the group after 10/28. But, by not being able to upload content starting 10/28, we will lose the abilities to archive messages and use the digest format, among other things. In December, everything that has been saved to their server previously (all of our archives, documents, photos) will be deleted permanently.
I think these changes are significant enough for us to make a move to another platform.

BirdForum keeps the topical [and not so topical] strings alive through years though that is a huge global platform. YES! Let IBLE continue! This group has been especially valuable to me
although I, too, do not know many of the folks. But it’s important to me to
put my observations here in Salmon/Challis into perspective w what you folks
down south are seeing. Noting the wave of spring and fall migrants thruout
the state has been neat and helpful to me. Plus, I’ve learned a lot about
the Moscow occurrences as well. I suspect many of us are eBird types but
IBLE offers the quick dissemination of data without having to go look up
Hotspots. Thanks for all your efforts to continue this forum.

I believe in my post yest that I was off on my date, looks like new content will not be able to be posted after Mon Oct 28, & last date is not the 21st like I had posted. So, that gives some time for list owners Cliff & Jane to let us all know where & how to find the new group listing. Glad there are “techies” out there who know how to do that sort of thing!
Birding-wise, believe 2 Blue Jays are now visiting my feeder. Spotted one, for sure, again yesterday afternoon. Today, seeing one that feeds only on spilled seeds on the ground & the other, on the platform feeder itself. Just haven’t been able to see both at the same time.

Thank you for your efforts. I have enjoyed posting and reading on IBLE. The narratives are interesting and educational to read. I’m not very skilled at ebird which seems more about listing the birds than sharing the experiences of birding. Thanks for looking at alternatives for the group that will function in a similar manner to IBLE the Yahoo group.

YES! Let IBLE continue! This group has been especially valuable to me
although I, too, do not know many of the folks. But it’s important to me to
put my observations here in Salmon/Challis into perspective w what you folks
down south are seeing. Noting the wave of spring and fall migrants thruout
the state has been neat and helpful to me. Plus, I’ve learned a lot about
the Moscow occurrences as well. I suspect many of us are eBird types but
IBLE offers the quick dissemination of data without having to go look up
Hotspots. Thanks for all your efforts to continue this forum.

[IBLE] Good News
Thanks to Cliff & Jane for planning to continue the IBLE group. That’s good news. I believe in my post yest that I was off on my date, looks like new content will not be able to be posted after Mon Oct 28, & last date is not the 21st like I had posted. So, that gives some time for list owners Cliff & Jane to let us all know where & how to find the new group listing. Glad there are “techies” out there who know how to do that sort of thing!
Birding-wise, believe 2 Blue Jays are now visiting my feeder. Spotted one, for sure, again yesterday afternoon. Today, seeing one that feeds only on spilled seeds on the ground & the other, on the platform feeder itself. Just haven’t been able to see both at the same time.

I too would support a new forum.
aI wonder if a format like a simple forum would work [like a general trip advisor country forum, but with fewer off ramps] or the one that Tom mentioned. BirdForum keeps the topical [and not so topical] strings alive through years though that is a huge global platform. I have avoided Facebook as much as possible but would make an exception for this group!

First, although the number of posts have declined as Brian mentioned, I still want this group. If Yahoo Groups won’t work for us anymore, we can find something else, and I’m researching other options right now. If anyone has input on various free group options, let me know. Also let me know if there are specific features you really value in a group like this, beyond the ability to send and receive email and archive old messages.

Sad info re: the end of Yahoo Groups which will affect IBLE. Sounds like as of this coming Mon, Oct 21 Yahoo Groups will be functionally over. I’m not really into other social media, don’t have a Facebook acct & not a “techie”. Even though, it seems posts to IBLE have somewhat decreased over the years, there have remained those providing good birding info that has certainly helped me in my observations.
Sure has been a good run & I hope a similar Idaho Birding forum takes the place of IBLE. From my perspective, I’ve enjoyed the contact with others through IBLE, having even met fellow birders in person, & hope to find all again “in the ether” on another platform.
