I just want to remind folks that there are no trespassing signs posted at Dry Lakes for both the irrigation pond and large flat area to the east of the pond. It is almost impossible to see the irrigation pond from the public road due to the corn field that is between the road and pond. But the large area has the amount of water right now and shorebirds are present. That whole area can be viewed from the public road though a scope is necessary to get a good look at the birds farthest from the road.
Please stay on the public roads only when birding the area. The no trespassing signs are quite visible

My thoughts are similar, too, Bill. If this is a yearly event, would the tanagers be protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which is either being gutted now or soon to be? Or how about grant money for some wannabe young rockstar UofI environmental architect/engineer to design a rehab?
I’ve seen photos of UV glass coatings that are not visible from the inside, but act as a deterrent on the outside, applied to new installs. Why not as a retrofit?

Under this Administration’s interpretation of incidental take under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, there is nothing to prosecute since there is no such thing as incidental take, only deliberate take.
