Subject: [IBLE] Always Have to Look
Even on this mixed rainy/snowy Thanksgiving Day, always have to check out the feeder birds. While getting dinner prep done, keeping an eye out on the feeder from the kitchen window. In the midst of dozens of House Finches, one bird just looked “off” from the rest. Binocs revealed a first-winter Harris’ Sparrow! Haven’t pulled my backyard records yet, but it’s been many years since my last yard sighting of one. A nice Thanksgiving surprise.

If you haven’t seen the NOVA episode entitled “The Fastest Animal on Earth,”
you’re missing a great presentation. Lots of science and lots of great video
of Peregrines doing some amazing things. It aired last night on Channel 4,
but I’m sure it will air again on one of the other PBS stations. If you have
the PBS app for your smart phone, I’m sure you can find it that way. It’s
truly a “Don’t miss it!” show.
BTW, for those of you in the Boise area, there were 2 Bald Eagles cruising
the river today. Plus the weather brought in some more ducks.
