Re: Golden Eagle forgot the link to all about birds
Not a Golden Eagle … Red-tailed Hawk notice field ID marks belly band, dark pataglia on wings, beak shape different, no golden nape evident, not feathered all the way down the leg etc.

Since the year I moved back to Idaho in 2014 (from Vermont), I have seen more than a few Golden Eagles. But each one is worth stopping for and photographing. I found this one this afternoon along Idaho Hwy. 78 a few miles east of Grand View, Owyhee County.—

Re: Brant at Deer Flat NWR
Katie refound the Brant scoping from the same spot at the Lower Dam. Much further out than previously seen, still in with Canada Geese.

Brant at Deer Flat Refuge Lower Dam
Currently watching a Brant at east end of lower dam. It’s with a small group of Canada Geese. Was seen earlier today and flew away but just reappeared.

Re: Brant at Deer Flat NWR
The Brant has moved out of sight towards the north east. Lots of geese roost near the dam at night so it might be back later today or tomorrow morning.

Re: Peep ID
Liz, we’ve had Dunlins and or sandpipers on the Christmas bird counts over the years. Yellowlegs also.
