At the ponds on Van Deusen Road late today, north of Emmett, were two groups of sandpipers. One group looked fairly certain to be Leasts – short droopy dark bill, pale legs, up on higher ground in the mudflats – very small in comparison to adjacent killdeer. The other group, which I would have guessed any other time to be Westerns, had longer drooping bills, dark legs, and were wading at the water line. I attach a photo. Can’t imagine Westerns being here this late? Any tips would be helpful.

Thank you, Denise, and great signature quote there… and Wow, John! Was your sighting in Boise County? We’re going to keep our eye on the bridge area. It’s tough because it’s a 55 mph zone and the BAEAs also come zooming by. I imagine if there’s ample food supply, it may linger longer?

OSPR in Boise County
Today, 11/23/2021 during our winter raptor survey, and for the second time in about a month, we’ve seen an Osprey at or near the Gardena Bridge on HWY 55 in Boise County. Anyone have records of osprey here this late?

The posture as well is more NOMO. TOSO sit more “upright” whereas NOMO are more “horizontal”.

Yellow eyes, lack of distinctive white eye ring, lightly buffed breast leading to paler belly, white wing bars: NOMO. The two can be confused on brief sightings. Hood photos.

Northern mockingbird. Your bird has white wing patches versus the buffy patches of a solitaire and also no white eyering as a solitaire has. The bill of your bird is curved and longer than a solitaire as well.
