Many thanks to all who responded to my request for help identifying the young Merlin. I greatly appreciate it.

Just had a flock of about 200 crows land in the intersection by our house, quite the show. Having said the Pine Siskin didn’t like our yard, we have had a flock of 3 dozen+ show up for the last
five days. Time to buy more seed!
