Fall is Migration Time for Loons and Lake Users Alike
Our thanks to those who participated in this year’s Canadian Lakes Loon Survey. As we say good-bye to summer and our loons for now, we reflect on the nesting season and how loons are faring. Neonics Harm the Birds AND the Bees
Results of a new study add to growing evidence that neonicotinoids harm more than just bees. White-crowned Sparrows exposed to a small dose of an insecticide lost weight and delayed migration longer than birds who were not exposed. Cute but Cryptic: The American Woodcock
Did you know that the American Woodcock, often seen in forests and meadows, belongs to the shorebird family? This species has many unique characteristics, and committed Citizen Scientists in Ontario spend a spring evening each year listening for its calls.
