Even though the top of the head is in shadow it looks like one to me with the bold line going from the eye to the back of the head and what appears to be a light colored head.

There were 3 loons this morning on Black Canyon Reservoir. It appeared to be a Common, black head, and 2 paler juveniles. Took some photos at great distance. Went back this evening on a whim and took a few more. Not sure these are the same individual. The bills are very pale, and the neck blotch has a reddish brown cast when I enlarge it. Any ideas?
A couple of new arrivals to black oil sunflower seed feeder today. One each: pine siskin & white-breasted nuthatch. A few yrs ago, had an irruption of the WB Nuthatches. Will see if same this yr.
Fabulous! Have a wonderful time being amazed. There are so many bird species as well as the fascinating marine iguanas, giant tortoises and other animals and plants. Memories of my 2001 trip are still strong.
