Rufous Hummingbirds

Yesterday, thought that I’d seen a bright rufous-colored backside of a hummingbird at the feeder. But, it was just a brief moment & so wasn’t certain. This AM, there’s no doubt, I have male Rufous Hummingbirds hitting the feeder. And, being aggressive Rufous, keeping my resident Black-chinneds away. Have seen at least 2 diff’t Rufous males, one more of a green-backed.

I know they’re spring/summer residents at area higher elevations, but have not been at our Snake River Riparian elevation. And, July seems early for southward migration. Usually, don’t start appearing at our place until 2nd WK of August.

No matter the cause, exciting to witness!
