Identification

We were at Ponderosa State Park a week ago and came across these two birds. I think the duck is a young bufflehead. The bird on the lily pad looks like a redwing blackbird, but I don’t see the usual stripe along the head and the beak looks
a little longer than usual. Would welcome your thoughts and expertise.

Lots of Juveniles

Nothing rare to report, but lots of juvenile birds around. Regularly seeing juvenile: Rufous & Black-chinned hummers, Bullock’s Orioles, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Yellow Warblers, Black-capped Chickadees, House Wrens, Western Wood-Pewee, Red-naped Sapsucker, Canada Geese & Bald Eagle. Also, have heard or seen Red-breasted Nuthatches daily, since summer 2022. Suspect, they’re now nesting, but just haven’t  been able to confirm.

Sorry for the slight delay – phone battery died as I was getting the word out – I had Idaho’s first(??) PRAIRIE WARBLER at market lake this morning around 9:45 in the east windrow :  43.80136, -112.17027

Some local birders were able to get on the bird an hour or so later- Darren clark said it was about 200 m north of the point in the above paragraph.
