Northern Goshawk

Today, for the first time in several years, I found a gorgeous Northern Goshawk along the Boise River Greenbelt. He was just downstream of Silver Lake and just upstream of the fork in the river that creates Plantation Island. He posed for quite a while for me, but then left in a flash. Way cool.

It was a much warmer bike ride today, with 39 birds. In addition to the NOGO, there were at least 5 GB Herons in different locations, a continuing GH Owl, and a Quinn’s Pond so covered in gulls that it looked like you could have walked across on their backs (assuming they were inclined to allow such a thing).
