Fantastic! Well, then a warm hello to Al, and a big thank you for your wonderful example to all birders and conservationists! (And congrats on still making a difference at 97! Respect!). Jonathan

Re: [IBLE] Fwd: The Birdman of Idaho Has Built Homes for Over 40,000 Bluebirds

Old friend of mine, back in my early days of birding with my dad. He had a Black-billed Cuckoo that hung around his property at least a couple of summers. He could imitate it perfectly and call it in. Al was very involved in the Audubon society. I doubt he ever was associated with IBLE. Havenโ€™t seen him since before his wife Hilda passed away. Lovely people. Thx for the quick memory jog! Jonathan, HSB

First, I have to say we’ve really been enjoying the “migration flight” postings by many observers.

And while I haven’t dedicated the time to specific watching, we are also noticing more migration signs. Last week we had at least three BH Grosbeaks on one day; and this past weekend, we had our FOS Western Tanager (young male) and FOS Phainopepla in the yard (midtown).

Happy Birding!

Missy and i did the same thing… we were planning on going today with an early start, but…… there’s always a Plan B

yesterday – Thursday – we had been birding locally around Boise since 0600 hrs, and that was pretty much our all-day mission, but when a location description was revealed on IBLE by Austin after a plea on IBLE by Denise, we changed course and headed for the hills… the Albion Mountains, Pomerelle Ski Area, and Lake Cleveland, where a storm blew in as we were departing, lowering the temperature to 48F , which felt miraculous for the 1st of August….

speaking of PUMA, we saw the male at its nest cavity in early afternoon, but we had already encountered Puma the mammal early yesterday on our way to Idaho City…

so it was a PUMA / Puma day for us in S Idaho !! =)

thx again, both Austin and Denise for posting IBLE, and esp the finders / 1st reporters / Evan and Liam….!!

Re: [IBLE] Purple Martin // PUMA

my eBird entry is here……

first breeding record in Idaho ?? !!
Missy and I stayed only long enough to see the male come into / depart from / the nest cavity,
our birding day started 0500 hrs, and we needed lunch, bathrooms, yada yada yada…. so we couldn’t linger

Steve, Darren and others were taking photos, lots of photos
pretty exciting stuff !!

my prior experience with the species ?
49 eBird entries in CA-BC,CA-MB,CA-SK,CU,HN,AZ,CO,FL,LA,OR,TX,WA
highest single location count was at an annual roost in Austin TX in late July…. 578K which was not my estimate but that of many others who’ve done annual counts thereabouts for years, using several methods of counting/estimating……

go experience that, ALL of you !!!
GO SEE IT !!!
