This fall migration is just plain…weird. The usual winter resident Townsend’s Solitaires & DE Juncos (Oregon & Pink-sided) are showing. A few White-crowned Sparrows & Am Robins are present. And the House Finches, BC Chickadees & Am Goldfinches are coming to the feeders.

Then, just a bit ago, a Blue Jay appeared at the sunflower seed platform feeder. Striking in its different blue hues. Stayed for about 5 minutes, gulping seeds & calling loudly. It’s been several years since I’ve had one appear.

Howdy,
Seven PVAS members found four Surf Scoters and four Great Egrets on the Snake River at the Pipeline Rd. West of American Falls today. There were also several Eared and one Horned Grebes present. We filled the feeders at the Am. Falls trout farm this morning.

There are 5 surf scoters on Cascade lake at the Blue Heron Park. We saw them at the boat ramp.

Adding delight to my morning was an American Robin perched on the edge of
my bird bath taking several drinks looking up between each drink. It
doesn’t have to be exotic or rare to be special.

Today there were four Surf Scoters on the Snake River near Pipeline Road, where Steve reported one last week. No sign of the White-winged Scoter today. Also present were four Great Egrets and several Eared Grebes.
