Kathryn Albertson Park: RL told me about these. Varied Thrush, Hermit Thrush, Screech Owl, Evening Grosbeak & Bohemian Waxwing.

Boise River Greenbelt at Lake Harbor: Osprey, Northern Shovelers (harder to come by lately)

Dry Creek Cemetery: Red-naped Sapsucker – row of trees along road just south of main office.

IBO River Study site: American Dipper, 2 Bewick’s Wrens, 2 Wilson’s Snipe

Morris Hill Cemetery – Red-naped Sapsucker – reported today by Matt Dunn and Ann Swanson

Larry Arnold had a Ross’s Goose in the Garden City greenbelt area. Was this in the CBC boundary Larry?

Out of Boise CBC:

A couple Common Redpoll are hanging out at the Twisted Springs Trailhead near the feeder at Avimor. I’d also walk around the park (ball field). There are a few Bewick’s Wrens as well that are usually singing. I found one a week ago and Jon Curd just saw 2 recently. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S40943442

Walk around the main pond and by the buildings at Eagle Island State Park for Evening Grosbeaks and Bohemian Waxwing

I’m seeing lots of Bohemian Waxing in several places, especially in the Eagle area.

Hello All,

Ann Swanson helped me find the Red-Naped Sapsucker at Morris Hill today, at lunchtime. It was seen in a large spruce on the border between sections A & B towards the north end of the cemetery (near her previous sighting in November) but took off to the east shortly after the sighting. I checked the pines on the east side but couldn’t relocate it. Surely it’ll be around this winter for more to see. Perhaps it’s cousin the Red-breasted will return, too.
Anyway, thanks Ann for putting me on to the bird, and I hope this helps out this year’s CBC!

RL Rowland called and asked if I’d let people know that there is a Varied Thrush and Western Screech Owl currently being seen at Kathryn Albertson Park near downtown Boise. Great birds for the first day of the Boise CBC week!
