Missy and I spent many hours in the canyon today with no cell phone coverage, and just now have email to report that we got a brief look at the Magnolia at about 1105 hrs in trees just below the restroom parking area……..

in the ambient light and viewing angle that we had, two features stood out – broad dark undertail band and complete/narrow eyering ; wing bars were barely visible to us. Behaviorally, this warbler did not appear to forage, move around nor fly like a yellow-rumped, of which there were several in the area.

Earlier at Jay and Heidi’s we had dipped on the Ovenbird, and since that was about our last yard bird in Colorado before moving here, we wondered if Jay and Heidi will be moving soon? 😉

Hi all,
Spent over 2 hours this morning looking but no luck. It was “birdier” closer to Sandy Point, where the paved walking trail enters the south end of the park. All the birds that were reported hanging out with the Magnolia were there but couldn’t find the rare visitor. Quite a few birders out, didn’t hear of anyone sighting the Magnolia today. Good luck to those searching. Made a quick check at Foote Park as well.
