yeah…. this bit of weather has shifted our hums around a bit….. still quite a few black-chins and at least one rufous this morning cussing out all the others
our numbers might be about 30% of max, and from prior history we expect both BC and RU for another 3-4-5 weeks
this morning felt “fallish”…… =)

Two young Black-chinned were in my back yard this morning, bug catching, sipping from salvia, and using feeder. Hiking the lower Foothills trails a little later, I saw a hummer in flight but couldn’t identify it.

First real cool front of season moving in now. And, yesterday AM, noted a change in hummingbird feeder activity. In past 48 hr have only seen a 3 oz drop in nectar. Very sporadic early AM visits yest & today by 2 immature Black-chinneds only. So, looks like bulk of fall hummingbird migration may be done? Might give my feeder another week for stragglers.
