With reports to my East & SW, I keep watching but no Rufous Hummingbirds my way, as of yet. Still getting Black-chinned & watched a male doing a display flight to a female for 30 minutes on Thu evening. Like Susan reported, the Black-headed Grosbeaks & Bullock’s Orioles are hitting their respective feeders hard. Going through 4-5# black oil sunflower seed a day & a jar of grape jelly every 5 days.

Have seen fledglings of House Wren, House Finch & Am Robin. Did have a Dusky Flycatcher calling yesterday AM. And there’s at least a pr or 2 of Lazuli Buntings nesting on the place. Western Wood Pewees are here & saw a W Kingbird mid-week. Yellow Warblers are numerous this “summer”. No snow at our river elevation but frost yesterday & today. As we’re on our 3rd starts of tomatoes, 2nd of peppers & 2nd of wife’s ornamental flowers…if they got bit too badly, we give up for this season! I have one set of tomato plants that have been in a state of suspended animation for 3 wks now…just sitting there, not dead but not growing. Maybe I could sell to NASA!
