Adding to several local reports and a flurry of regional reports in the
last few days, a noisy BLUE JAY was in the University of Idaho Arboretum in
Moscow this morning, mostly working the northeastern edge adjacent to the
neighborhood. There was a good number of late migrants including:
Hammond’s Flycatcher
Warbling Vireo: My latest in Idaho and one of only a few October eBird
records for the state.
House Wren: Tied my latest date for Idaho. I had one in the same location
on the same date in 2014, and the only other October record for the
panhandle (in eBird) is by Olsoy/Sorenson on Oct. 1 (2016) at Phillips Farm
Park, north of Moscow.
Orange-crowned, Yellow-rumped, and (1-2) Wilson’s Warblers
Numerous Kinglets (both species), a dozen Northern Flickers, a minimum of
three Townsend’s Solitaires (some or all may overwinter in this location)
Lincoln’s and White-crowned Sparrows
