[IBLE] American Falls Res. Shorebirds

Howdy,
AFR is still full, with little mud exposed. But there are a couple spots worth watching. One is Pacific Pond, which is on Pacific Rd., turn left after the train tracks on the way to Willow Bay. It is drying up and I’ve had Western Sandpipers and Black-necked Stilts there. Another good spot is near Seagull Bay, about 5 miles east of American Falls. There is a drying impoundment at the upper end of the bay with lots of exposed mud. Yesterday I counted 2 Great Egrets, 40 White-faced Ibis, 3 Killdeer, 2 Willets, 5 Western Sandpipers, 15 Wilson’s Phalaropes, and 15 Long-billed Dowitchers on the mud at the upper end. I’ll keep you posted on the migration.
Good Birding,
Chuck Trost
