Hi all,
The Ovenbird appeared at 5:20 tonight. I was watching for over an hour when
it made a brief appearance before flying back up into the Spruce. As Heidi
and Jay mentioned, best spot to look for bird is to view from your car
parked on either side of their driveway.

Missy and I spent many hours in the canyon today with no cell phone coverage, and just now have email to report that we got a brief look at the Magnolia at about 1105 hrs in trees just below the restroom parking area……..

in the ambient light and viewing angle that we had, two features stood out – broad dark undertail band and complete/narrow eyering ; wing bars were barely visible to us. Behaviorally, this warbler did not appear to forage, move around nor fly like a yellow-rumped, of which there were several in the area.

Earlier at Jay and Heidi’s we had dipped on the Ovenbird, and since that was about our last yard bird in Colorado before moving here, we wondered if Jay and Heidi will be moving soon? 😉

Hi all,
Spent over 2 hours this morning looking but no luck. It was “birdier” closer to Sandy Point, where the paved walking trail enters the south end of the park. All the birds that were reported hanging out with the Magnolia were there but couldn’t find the rare visitor. Quite a few birders out, didn’t hear of anyone sighting the Magnolia today. Good luck to those searching. Made a quick check at Foote Park as well.

I spent some time early afternoon at Discovery Park and after looking around and then
wandering up to beach by the dam, finally saw the Magnolia right next to my car. I
think it must have been the same area as Jason first saw it as the tree in one of the
videos looks like the one which was being worked by a nuthatch and flicker while I
was watching the warbler.

No luck from 1440 – 1545. Red-breasted Nuthatches and Juncos were busy
after Heidi tossed fresh seed on the ground.

Howdy,
This afternoon there was a Pacific Loon and about 13 Common Loons on the reservoir near the dam. Also present on the NW side were one Black Scoter and about 5 Surf Scoters. All were either females or juveniles. Many Eared Grebes and Am. Coots were also present, but no sign of the WWSC.

Just looking at INaturalist. The flycatcher was seen on 9/21/19 in Fremont County.

Charles Swift made a comment asking the person who saw the bird to post it to Ebird.

Not my observation, but I saw on iNaturalist a photo of what looked like a
scissor-tailed flycatcher found a few miles north of Harriman State Park
just off of Highway 20.

While Cliff and I come up with a solution to this, note that yahoogroups emails are taking up to a day, sometimes more, to make it to the list. Since this isn’t useful for getting the word out on unusual observations, we will be moving quickly to find another host.
