SSHA and COHA can be a difficult separation at times, esp if you can’t see much of the bird for overall structure, don’t hear vocals, etc…..
I’ve seen nationally-known, very experienced birders “stuck” on making a call one way or the other

At least you know to correct your misidentification, Ceredig. When I claimed to have seen a couple of Cooper’s Hawks at Foote Park recently, it took an eBird moderator to set me straight and correctly identify them as Cooper’s Hawks. I’d concur with John, that those are some terrific shots of the shore crowd.

Also, for those who miss the defunct BirdTrax widget that showed
the latest eBird sightings I found a replacement for notable
sightings developed by Ed Norton called BirdFinder. It is
displayed on the Sightings-News-Events
page of Idaho Birds.
