I agree Tom I’m glad you brought that up I wonder how many birders like I are aware of the problem most idahoans wont speak up about what trump is doing in :re virus but think they would speak up for birds let’s do some thing birders about this

Heidi and Jay on PBS!
In case you haven’t seen it, “Outdoor Idaho” on PBS, has an episode called “Urban Wildlife.” It’s about the interaction between wildlife and humans in Idaho. I recorded it a few days ago and just got around to watching it. I was quite pleased to see our very own Heidi Ware Carlisle and Jay Carlisle in the episode. Heidi even got a speaking part, Jay just got a cameo.
I’m not sure when it will air next, but if you have PBS Passport, I’m sure you can find it. Passport is available to folks who contribute some bucks to our Idaho Public Television.
The saddest part of the show is the sidewalk around the Hall of Mirrors, littered with dead Western Tanagers. (We need to do something about that bird killing machine.)

Had FOY rufous hummer come through yesterday, and what looked to be a juvie this a.m. Saw none in spring.

You can see it from the entrance to Deer Flat NWR Visitor’s Center (in front of the gate), although there is still a little bit of light pollution from Nampa-Caldwell. Watch out for people parked along the shoulders of Indiana Avenue, tho. I haven’t tried it, but seems the pass on 55 above Horseshoe Bend would be a good option. Almost anywhere in Owyhee County, except in the Snake River Canyon, or the eastern half of Canyon County (east of Caldwell or south of Nampa and Caldwell) would likely be good as well.

Sorry about the blank message before. I WAS going to say that there’s good viewing at the top of Horizon Drive (O’Farrell turns into Horizon). Turn around when you get to the top and park your car next to the first lane on the right. I just walked down the lane and onto the foothills path, and there it was, just below the big dipper at 11:00 p.m. Such a delight.

Tucson Audubon Presentation on eBird Reviewers, what they do, and how they do it.
This is a re-post of a note I posted on the Facebook “Idaho Bird Sightings and Discussion” group for those that might not be regular visitors there.
I spend the winters in Tucson, AZ. While there I have had the opportunity to get involved in many Tucson Audubon events. Lately, they have started sponsoring a regular series of online classes on a wide range of topics. One recent class was presented by the eBird reviewers for the Southeast Arizona region. I thought regular eBird users would appreciate knowing more about what goes on behind the scenes on your checklists, especially when they contain rarities.
