I took some great shots with the P900 over the years and Margie shot a lot of great stuff in Africa with hers and then mine. Heidi took a P900 to Africa and it worked great for her. So the P900 is no slouch.

As you may remember the primary reasons I do not use mine much are that it is not the best for Birds in Flight and does not shoot in RAW … I read that the new P950 and P1000 do shoot in raw and supposedly are better for birds in flight.

I contacted a couple GEAS members about suddenly having trouble with the Auto-focus on my Nikon Coolpix 900 camera after 3 years of loving this camera.  Mary R. and Ceredig had good suggestions but essentially it seemed to be deficiencies in the type of camera (not a DSLR).  I did not want to send my camera in to Nikon for 3 weeks but finally called tech support.  A wonderful technician, Salvador, listened to my descriptions and gave me an estimate and the information on how to send my camera in, but he suggested we try something first:  RESET   I did not know what this was but it sounded like rebooting your computer so I was interested.  On my camera, I just had to press on the Menu button and then 9 o’clock on the large circular wheel (Multi-selector Dial) that one uses to get to categories in the Menu.  On my camera, you can scroll down to the item that looks like a wrench.  The last item on the list this brings up is Reset All.  Pressing this reset my camera to original settings so I had to make sure things like Image Size and ISO were as I wanted but my camera is back to taking pictures like it used to and it didn’t cost a penny!!  Maybe this will help one of you who are as untechnical as I am and save you lots of time and money!!

Re: Definitely Blue Jay!

Hey all.
Tom, your couple times heard Blue Jay down near Plantation would fit. Mark Collie, who now lives in the Collister area but up and across State St. from there, reported to me he’d heard a BLJA around the Boise CBC period last year. He was not able to refind nor was it found on Count Day. He may have heard or even briefly seen it, don’t remember for sure, several days later in the trees over by the Edgewater Apts., again not able to refind.
