Re: Ruby-crowned Kinglet?

Coincidentally I heard the first singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet in
my yard this morning in Island Park. Temps are headed for the 60s
and the snow is melting fast. Feels like spring.

That is such good news!!! 

I made nectar yesterday and late last night put out 2 feeders for the hummingbirds. 

I got my FOY YEWA on 4.27 at the island while checking in on the OSPR nest. I was at the bridge when the YEWA flew right past me. What a welcoming sight to see. Tell the BCHU I’ve got feeders out and send them my way!

FOY BCHU

Happy to report the first male made it here at 8:45 this a.m.  Sort of within the week of first arrivals in my notes, so not necessarily tardy, but if you thought you felt an earthquake right around then, that was me jumping up and down for joy.
Spotted FOY YEWAs in Emmett yesterday, as well.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet?

This bird visited my backyard fountain an hour ago. Lots of orange on breast, distinctive wing bars, and a hint of brown on throat, with small blackish spots on top of head. I first thought “warbler,” but now I think kinglet. Any thoughts?

A Nemesis Bird…Yes!

Finally. Observed one of my nemesis birds today! A Red-necked Grebe on the Snake, below home. Saw a couple of Mallard drakes harassing a bird about mid-stream. The bird finally broke away from the Mallards & came my direction. And, got  to see my first Red-necked, yes!

Others, FOY birds today: White-crowned Sparrow, House Wren & Swainson’s Hawk.

It’s good luck to photograph a Golden Eagle in flight. I stopped en route home from Glenns Ferry, Elmore County, yesterday to look over the Snake River and watched this raptor soar past. No swallows yet under the Old Highway 30 bridge, but it won’t be long, I’m sure.
