I’m passing through the area and stopped by Fort Boise WMA. In the last 45
minutes I have observed 1 singing male Blue Grosbeak and 2 male Indigo
Buntings (one singing male and one male foraging nearby). These were all
~100 meters or less from the big dip in the road.
It’s hot and the birds shortly stopped singing, I got here in the nick of
time.

For what it’s worth American Falls is down to 86% and dropping but still

Reservoir will probably be full well into August.

AFR is still full, with little mud exposed. But there are a couple spots worth watching. One is Pacific Pond, which is on Pacific Rd., turn left after the train tracks on the way to Willow Bay. Monday 24 July was our 42nd anniversary and this is where Missy and chose to
enjoy it. We had an extraordinary day in this breath-taking area, witnessed
a dazzling array of wildflowers and got a fun list of birds, mostly between
5500 and 8500 ft elevation.

I just downloaded & cropped my 2 digi-bino pics and added them to my eBird list (http://ebird.org/ebird/pnw/view/checklist/S38249334). I didn’t notice any hint of white in the field but these pictures suggest a bit of white on the lower wing and on the flank. Sign of a hybrid or an artifact of photos?
(The original bird is certainly a pure Indigo – my question is only about the 2nd individual I noticed today)
I welcome any thoughts and would love it if future visitors would try for a better picture of this second bird.

Missy reminds me that we’ve seen Indigo x Lazuli twice, once in W Colorado,
and once in SW Idaho.
