I visit family a few times a year in Boise so I always keep up on the list. I am sure none of you have met me.

The list for central Oregon switched to Groups.io perhaps a year ago. Who ever manages switching over IBLE might want to check on how archives get switched so old news is not lost. For our list, the list administrator had to go through some hoops and maybe backed up some archives somewhere else and then put them in, general idea. I don’t know any specifics, as I am not a techie, but if a person wants to take some iniative with IBLE on it, I could give them the email for our list administrator just in case there is value in discussing the change. I’ve heard elsewhere that yahoogroups is fading out, will cease to exist
Is anyone with techie skills discussing this? because several (many?) of us are not willing to play on FB……..
one thing we did c. 15 yrs ago when Audubon pulled the plug on our local Audubon chapter birding listserv… we each maintained a smallish list of email contacts for discussing birds locally, but when we went down that path we ended up with maybe ten local discussion groups – just in western Colorado – and that wasn’t serving us very well, so someone with savvy created a larger discussion group, a yahoogroup….
where are we with this, re Brian’s question?

So, when I got onto IBLE just now, I’m seeing a notice from Yahoo re: Groups. Sounds like Yahoo is decreasing the function of Groups, overall. Guess my question is, will IBLE continue or will it cease to exist?

Just wanted to share blue jay sightings from the Salmon area. I’ve had up
to 4 individuals at my feeders since 1 October. Two to four birds have been
present daily the last 6 days feeding on black oil sunflower seeds at the
feeders and on the ground below. Several other blue jay sightings have been
submitted to eBird from this area the last couple weeks. They have also
been recently observed at feeders in Challis, ID. Quite the show!

Bird migration is fascinating. Amazing what a few miles difference will reveal. Excellent report, Patty! Glad to hear somebody is seeing good numbers of fall migrants.

We had a bumper crop of BH Grosbeaks this summer, but all pulled out sev wks ago, as well as, hummingbirds. Finally, just emptied my nectar feeders, as was just feeding yellowjackets! After a 2nd wasp sting, had enough! Along the Snake, west of town, getting our winter residents: Juncos, Townsend’s Solitaires, Spotted Towhees & a few Robins. Only fall ones I’ve seen are a handful of Yellow-rumped Warblers & RC Kinglets.

Wonder if the fall migrants follow river/stream corridors? And maybe the Blackfoot just held more food/interest than the Snake this year. We need an ISU Ornithology grad student!

Brian, your hummers have evidently just changed neighborhoods. Here, by the
Blackfoot River, we’re struggling to keep four feeders filled! We have
Black-chinneds, Rufous, Calliope and Broad Tailed. Sitting on the deck in
the evening is amazing, but sometimes a lesson in trying not to duck the
zoomers. Black-headed Grosbeaks still here with youngsters in tow. Record
number of nesting House Wrens almost gone. Sadly, we don’t get your Lazuli
Buntings.just the occasional itinerant. Lots of warblers passing through,
but I’m not sharp enough to identify them this time of year!

It’s quite interesting to read these reports of the birds you’re seeing in
other parts of the state. Sorry I have nothing if interest to share at this
time. A Northern Flicker (red-shafted) male did stop for some drinks at my
bird bath this afternoon.
