I’m looking for a raptor rehab person to help with an injured rough-legged hawk. It’s been in the same area east of Pocatello for several days now. They can contact me at: (Two Zero 8) Three 1 Seven 3 Two 0 One John
That is perfect for us as we’ll be in shorebird land. I may go review the Cornell lab shortbird course that I bought a couple of years ago. The sandpipers continue to stump me.
It’s really easy if you use Ebird. Complete your checklists as usual and the share your checklists with worldshorebirdsday (this is their Ebird user name).

Had a juv male hummingbird visit feeder today, just once. Was there for about 3 min. A striking rufous color with an obvious green back. Sibley Birds states up to 5% Rufous will have a green back. Given the extraordinary number of migrating Rufous we’re seeing in E ID along Snake River corridor & fact that I’ve never seen an Allen’s on our place, sticking with a Green-backed Rufous.
Going by nectar consumption looks like we’ve gone from a high of 30 diff’t hummers/day, now down to ~16. Today, Black-chinned, Rufous & Calliope. Vast majority of all types are juvs. In past, our hummer numbers start to drop after 1st WK of Sept. I keep feeder up til first of Oct, to help out stragglers.
