Mountain Bluebird
I’m not sure how big a deal this is for everyone else, but my wife, Susan, found a Mountain Bluebird today. I think it may be my first of the year, not just of the season. The bird was at the south end of Veterans Park, where the greenbelt
path is separated from the park by a ditch with a wooden footbridge. We saw the bird on the way out on our (cold) ride, but I didn’t see it on the way back. It was perched on a large stalk of vegetation along the ditch and seemed tolerant of the people passing
by on the greenbelt path.
Lots of ducks have arrived, hopefully to stay. Gadwalls are suddenly common, Hooded Mergansers are daily, and Common Goldeneye have started to hang out at Silver Lake. Plus, I saw an Osprey in the last week, but he was a one hit wonder.

back on line
I am now back on-line after stupidly tripping into being “Trojaned”, a.k.a. Ransomware. I’ve gotten a newer, faster computer, with updated Windows and better security, a whole new operating system to get used to. Argh!!!
Fortunately, all passwords I use are entered manually each use so those people were not able to access anything pass my basic ISP screen. However, they did lock and encrypt my entire Desktop, very little was salvageable due to the encryption. Means I have to start all over from scratch. SIGH! If anyone here in Boise area knows of a good computer whiz I could hire…? This new 10 system is much more intricate and trickier than my old 7 system.
No virus was found by the folks who checked out my old computer and from whom I acquired this new one.
I want to especially thank Denise Hughes for passing on my message about my malware problem to all of you in “ible-land” in case I was infected. I did not want to pass anything nasty forward.
But, all is good now and I have a month’s worth, each, of emails to deal with and back checklists to enter in ebird.
Be careful out there and… Continued Good Birding. RL
