I frequently circumnavigate it but today only had time to go around the inlet half.
The last time I saw a lot of American Avocets they were on the dam end of the reservoir.
The Dowitcher count was way down from the last time I was there on 8-1-23.
I went looking for Semipalmated Plover and Sandpiper both Lifers for me and had to be home by 11 AM or my wife would have turned me into a pumpkin 🙂

That’s great, Judy! I’ve never seen more than one out there. I’m actually headed to your neck of the woods this weekend, but I will look forward to seeing multiple Bairds 🤞🏻 when I go to Blacks Creek one morning next week.

Checked out the checklist and location. The site is in Hells Canyon downstream from the confluence of the Snake and Salmon Rivers. Probably seen from a raft or boat.
I had a quick look at the STFL at about 1545 today. Saw it just as I pulled into the HQ parking lot. It was 200′ due east of the toilets. Spent another 50 mins trying for a second look; no luck.
Thanks Diann! A definite weather change. Even with the rain, activity at the hummingbird feeder starts at daybreak & continues until dark, now. Large influx of juvenile & female Rufous & Calliope. One female Rufous stands “guard” over the feeder, as much as possible. But, just can’t quite seem to maintain full control, with the numbers arriving.
