Re: Black scoter at Lake Lowell

October 16, 2022 Idaho Birders Linked Electronically
Denise Hughes and I were watching the Black Scoter through scopes when we saw it get up and fly with rapid wing beats toward the west side of lower dam. We drove west along dam looking for it but didn’t refind it before it got too dark.
Good luck to others looking for it. Thanks to JC Clancy for finding it and to Linda/Louisa for refinding it.

Black scoter at Lake Lowell

October 16, 2022 Idaho Birders Linked Electronically
JC Clancy found a black scoter on 10/15 and Linda Wentz refound it on 10/16 at about 5 pm. Bird seen on the far side of the reservoir from the east end of Lower Dam hanging out with eared grebes. Appears to be a juvenile. Long black duck with light cheek patch, tail held at 45 degree angle. —

I was out there yesterday.  Not many birds but there was a RTHA sitting near the pond.  No sharp tail.

Just curious if anybody has seen the Sandpiper this weekend? Tempted to go for a drive today …
