This is my first post on this group, but thank you for the congratulations about the GEAS bird challenge.
The photo category was based on most species photographed, not quality of the shots. Many of the pictures I took were enough to capture a species identification, but they were not necessarily worthy of National Geographic. However, I did manage to get a few good photos during this month. Hope you enjoy a few of them:
I met a few birders at Borah Park as they were looking for the Golden-crowned Sparrow so I feel invested in the challenge even though I didn’t participate. Who were the top 10? …and congrats to the winners. Lots of effort by many. Wonderful contest.
Congratulations to all the winners! You are true winners in so many ways. Your spirit of cooperation and friendship is is an example for all competitors.
And congratulation to Jim for getting out there. Who better to compete with than your awesome self.

Louisa Evers and I – Cheryl Huizinga – tied for the Most Birds Seen in January (154) and Kent Klemen won both the Most Recorded (Audio) Species (58) and the Most Photographed Species (116).
It was a fun challenge and from the Zoom meeting we had last night, everybody enjoyed getting out and about in January looking for birds.
