Kamilia Canyon Road in the Ruby Mountains, where you go to see Himalayan Snowcock, has been closed as of Sunday by multiple avalanches. This happened while we were in the air, on our way west.

We were told that the decision had not yet been made on reopening the road, and that if they decide to go ahead, it will be at least several months’ work to clear the road, perhaps even a year.

Sorry that this is for a site outside Idaho, where we just were, but I don’t subscribe to the Nevada Listserv, and this species would be relevant to many folks in Idaho This was quite a bummer for a trip that was two years in the planning, but
