Memories of Birding Island (Idaho)

Another posting today in my “Bird Destinations” series.

Excerpt:

The meandering of the Payette River has created a broad wetland in the river plain. Not only do cranes, geese, herons, egrets, and waterfowl thrive here, migrating shorebirds visit during their north and southbound journeys in spring and fall. Spring and summer will find flycatchers, warblers and other edge-habitat loving birds here. I have dear friends in Payette who I like to spend time with as often as I can. When there, Birding Island is one place I look forward to visiting.

I do not chase birds as much as I chase places.
I can enjoy the birds I meet, if I enjoy the place I meet them.

Rusty Blackbird in Moscow, ID

Thanks to Mike Scott I was able to spot a Rusty Blackbird in the second sheep pen on the left off of Farm rd at around 1230 pm today. The attached photo is a cell phone shot off of my camera so the quality is not great. The bird was hanging around with a small flock of Brewer’s Blackbirds. The grackle like tail made it stand out at a distance especially with the wind blowing as hard as it was.
