[IBLE] Rufous

After the push of late afternoon thunderstorms, a female Black-headed Grosbeak showed at the sunflower seed feeder. And, about 15 minutes ago, nearing dusk a male Rufous Hummingbird started hitting the nectar feeder. Even with clouds and no sun, its throat was flashing red-orange iridescence. Also have a male Red-naped Sapsucker that shredded an area of bark & made a series of fresh sap holes in a Rocky Mountain Juniper just outside one of our windows. He now visits several times a day.

[IBLE] Whimbrel- Twin Falls

Hello,

This morning about 0800 I found a Whimbrel in grassy fields on an organic
dairy south of Twin Falls (seen from 2700 E approx. at 42.3969, -114.5160).
Pictures are posted in Idaho bird sightings and discuss on Facebook page,
which is really where the identification was clinched (thank you all who
commented!!).

I can email pictures if anyone not on FB wants to see them 🙂

Good birding,

Austin Young
