“Either that’s the world’s biggest chickadee or the deer is visiting the neighbor’s birdfeeder again”. Collister Drive winds up into Polecat Gulch in the Boise foothills. On my way up to the Polecat Trailhead, I saw a deer grazing on shrubs and flowers in people’s yards once but this was the first time I’d seen one working a birdfeeder.
I’m going to hazard a guess as Baird’s? Appears to have black legs and appears to have primary projection past tail. Hard to tell for sure from photo. I could be wrong.
