That is correct, we can still send email to the group after 10/28. But, by not being able to upload content starting 10/28, we will lose the abilities to archive messages and use the digest format, among other things. In December, everything that has been saved to their server previously (all of our archives, documents, photos) will be deleted permanently.

I think these changes are significant enough for us to make a move to another platform.

Folks –

You may be misunderstanding some of this. Yahoo is no longer allowing uploading of content. But email groups are still allowed.

They say:

“On October 28, you will no longer be able to upload any content to the site. To share info with members of your groups, you’ll continue to be able to do so via email.”

and

“You’ll still be able to communicate with your groups via email and search for private groups on the site. In addition, admins will continue to have limited access to group settings and administration tools.”

Depending on how IBLE is used, yahoo might still be fine.
