Still waiting on Bullock’s Oriole & W Tanager. Seems our biggest Spring push has always been either weekend before or weekend of Memorial Day. Only one Yellow Warbler, so far, still waiting for warblers & vireos. Sadly, past few yrs, fewer Spring (&, for that matter, Fall) overall migrant numbers.

Harlequin Ducks on the Henry’s Fork near Warm River
If anyone wants to look for them, there is a pair of Harlequin Ducks on the Henry’s Fork today. They were seen in the section with a lot of boulders about 3/4 mile downstream from Warm River.

We’ve had Lazulis since early in the week and house wrens are bubbling away. Calliope is at feeders, but not sure what other hummers. Bullock’s Oriole showed up yesterday and works the hummer feeder. Cowbirds appeared yesterday, which for us is near the end.
Canada Geese and Sandhills are I think nesting in pond, which is large courtesy of beavers. Sharpies and Red Tails are cruising around and Turkeys are courting and making early morning racket.

Addendum: Definite male Lazuli Bunting. Just came in again to the feeder & allowed for great observation. Also, hearing Sandhill Cranes overhead.

Next 3+ Weeks
Next 3+ weeks should start seeing arrival of more & more Spring migrants. Have at least one male black-chinned hummingbird hitting the feeder regularly now. At least 2 difft prs of red-naped sapsuckers checking for nesting holes. A few house wrens & 2-3 black-headed grosbeaks coming into the feeder. Fairly certain I saw a male lazuli bunting the other morning leaving the feeder. But, just a glimpse.

Sitting on Back Deck
Sitting on back deck as I write this & in past 15 min: 2 new spring arrivals: 1 ea: adult male Black-headed Grosbeak & a Yellow Warbler. Also, overhead, 7 Bald Eagles (6 adult, 1 imm, 4 in one group), 1 adult Golden Eagle, 1 Red-tailed Hawk & 75 White Pelicans in various groupings. 5 Wild Turkey in backyard, including a displaying tom. Reason I always have my binocs handy, even when reading a book on the deck.

isn’t that always the case! I’m still learning the Canon 9D and in the process of trying to change the settings I missed a close up of an osprey at the park near the snake river in Marsing. Osprey flew over me ! Would have been a great close up.
